Conservation Enforcement

Conservation Badge

The Fond du Lac Reservation Resource Management Enforcement Division is composed of 8 federally trained full-time Conservation Officers. Their primary responsibility is to enforce the Tribal Conservation Codes adopted by the Fond du Lac Band upon band members on the Reservation, 1837 and 1854 Treaty Areas. The Band has in place a full set of ordinances regulating the on and off- reservation seasons, bag limits and licensing structure, registration stations and a system of tagging. The Conservation Code rule book is used to implement ordinances to the band members as they hunt, fish and gather on the Reservation and in the 1837, 1854 Treaty areas. All Conservation violations by Band members are cited into the Fond du Lac Court system, established in 1976. Contrary to popular misconception, exercise of treaty rights is not a free for all and all subsequent activities are regulated and monitored.
