Community Center Manager, Full Time

Location: Cloquet Community Center
Supervisor: Community Services Director
Closing Date: December 18, 2017

General Summary:

Provides supervision for staff and operations at the assigned Community Center.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides supervision to staff in the center. This includes completing their annual appraisals, approving leave time, monitoring their work product, ensuring proper coverage of duties when they are on leave, training for their duties. Monitors, verifies and signs all time cards and leave slips and any disciplinary action necessary.
  • Coordinates regular staff meetings.
  • Coordinates on and off-site recreational social and cultural activities for the Community Center.
  • Oversees budgets, distributes, document and files for Reservation group events such as field trips, holiday activities, etc.
  • Create activities to promote interaction working with other Community Center Managers with events such as meetings, sports tournaments, youth and adult activities, etc.
  • Picks up and delivers supplies to events, sports tournaments, scheduled outings as needed.
  • Publishes Monthly center calendar on FDL Website.
  • Ensures items utilized as prizes/gifts are properly logged in, dispersed and accounted for in accordance with Inventory Software program.
  • Confers with staff and Director to formulate and institute policies and rules that assure the safety and responsible actions of participants and staff at the Community Center.
  • Maintains files both electronic and manual file systems, typing, and prepares correspondence for the center.
  • Ensures items utilized as prizes/gifts are properly logged in, dispersed and accounted for in accordance with Inventory Software program.
  • Oversees all purchases of equipment and supplies for the Community Center.
  • Prepares, submits and manages annual budgets.
  • Complies and analyzes expenditures and project costs for the center.
  • Prepares and submits Reservation Business Committee quarterly reports and/or other reports as required.
  • Communicates and updates the Community Services Director on daily activities, upcoming projects, budgets, agenda items and any areas of concern.
  • Submits monthly Work, Meeting and Annual Leave schedule to Director.
  • Appropriate work attire is required.
  • Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
  • Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees, band members and/or clients.
  • Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
  • Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
  • Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal physical requirements.

Position Qualifications:

  • AAS/AA Degree required.
  • Knowledge and experience planning and implementing youth, family and community activities.
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required; if not certified at the time of hire, employee must become certified within 6 months of hire. Employment is contingent upon this requirement and must be kept current for the duration of employment,
  • Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Access, Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
  • Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
  • Travel is required.
