Fleet Coordinator, Full Time

General Summary:

The Fleet Coordinator is responsible for ensuring safe and economical usage of fleet vehicles; planning, acquisition, maintenance, repair and disposal of fleet assets; and oversight of fleet maintenance operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance, oversight, and coordination for the maintenance of all Band-owned fleet assets, including motor vehicles, golf carts, tractors, trailers, lawn tractors, boats, four-wheelers, and snowmobiles.
  • Coordinates with staff on maintenance and purchase of fleet assets used by all Band programs and Band enterprises.
  • Maintains comprehensive inventory of all Band-owned fleet assets in the Accounting software.
  • Coordinate purchase of new fleet assets by submitting a capital purchase request with the annual budget, or by revision to the annual budget.
  • Develop and establish policies related to the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of the fleet assets.
  • Coordinate sale of surplus fleet assets; ensure all applicable regulations and procedures are followed in executing sales.
  • Identifies qualified repair contractors and suppliers; develops blanket purchase agreements as appropriate.
  • Develop specifications for use in purchasing standard fleet assets and major inventory items through the procurement process.
  • Maintains knowledge of Fond du Lac Ordinance #07/95, Budgets & Procurement.
  • Drives to fleet asset and purchase inspections as needed.
  • Appropriate work attire required.
  • Must attend mandatory department meetings.
  • Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.
  • Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
  • Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
  • Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal physical requirements.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field; four to six years of vehicle maintenance related experience; or combination of education and experience is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of fleet repair management.
  • Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Access, Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
  • Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
  • Travel is required.
