Industrial Arts Teacher, Full Time

General Summary:

The Industrial Arts Teacher will apply rigorous Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics content to answer complex questions, to investigate global issues, and to develop solutions for challenges and real world problems.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Teaches courses in Industrial Arts/STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) to students in grades Pre – K - grade 12 as specified by State law utilizing courses of study adopted by the School Board and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
  • Instructs students in basic, intermediate, and advanced subject matter specified in State law and administrative regulations and procedures as identified by the School District.
  • Teach students to become technologically literate in project-based activities.
  • Teach students how to solve problems using scientific and mathematical knowledge, tools, materials, processes and technological systems.
  • Teach subject areas, including communications, production (manufacturing and construction), power and energy, transportation and bio-related technologies.
  • Adapt the curriculum to provide differentiated instruction to meet individual, small group, or remedial instruction to meet the needs of students.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide and orderly, productive classroom environment.
  • Communicate in an appropriate manner with parents/guardians on student progress.
  • Works cooperatively with all school personnel regarding student progress and shares all appropriate information as required.
  • Assists and collaborates with appropriate personnel toward the development and implementation of a cooperative work-study program involving local employers.
  • Selects and requisitions books, instructional aides, appropriate to the interests and maturity levels of all students.
  • Maintains required materials and supplies inventory records.
  • Maintains accurate daily records of student performances, attendance, and periodic grades.
  • Participates in faculty meetings and serves on School-Wide Improvement committees.
  • Maintains Material Study Data Sheets (MSDS) and chemical inventories as required by Bureau of Indian Education Environmental (BIE) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Provides and maintains safety equipment as required by OSHA standards.
  • Supervises all students in and out of classroom settings as assigned.
  • Maintain professional relationship with all staff and community members.
  • Routinely cleans and provides appropriate maintenance to ensure a safe, clean and secure learning environment.
  • Appropriate work attire is required.
  • Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
  • Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees, band members and/or clients.
  • Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
  • Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
  • Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal physical requirements.

Position Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree with concentration in technology education and current State teaching license/certification are required.
  • Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Access, Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
  • Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
